Family Law
Family law issues can come up in various circumstances. You may have separated from your partner and need legal services to resolve the issues arising from the separation. You may be in a relationship and looking for a cohabitation or marriage agreement about ownership of property and financial arrangements between you and your partner. You may be a relative, like a grandparent or step-parent, who is impacted by a family law matter and needs advice. Or you may be in another situation that raises family law issues.
Whatever your circumstances, legal advice helps clarify your situation and the options available to you.
Approach
My approach is simple. I listen and ask lots of questions. I do my best to clearly explain how family law works. I provide practical advice and explain the options available to you, in your individual circumstances. And I work with you to identify what services would help you.
What To Expect - First Steps
-
✺
When you first contact MH Family Law, we will need to run a conflict check to ensure that there is no conflict of interest that precludes us from working with you. If there is no conflict, you will receive our intake form, which asks for some initial information about your family law matter to help us prepare for our first meeting with you.
-
✺
At our first meeting, we will discuss your circumstances in more detail and provide you with information, initial advice, and options for next steps. You may end up with a lot to think about after this first meeting, and that’s okay – you are welcome to take your time to consider the advice and options we discussed and how you wish to proceed.

✺
If you wish to retain us, then we will enter into a retainer agreement that sets out the services we will provide, our fees, and all other terms of our work with you. We offer the option of unbundled services, which means retaining us only for specific parts of your family law matter while you handle the remaining work.
